The National Dance Council of America (NDCA) is the Governing Council of NDCA Sanctioned Events, recognized by the World Dance & Dance Sport Council as its sole representative in the United States of America. Its purpose is to provide, on a nation-wide basis, a united inter-association agency to represent the interests of those in the dance profession and other dance-related entities and organizations and to act as the agency for cooperation with similar councils in other countries.

The mission of USA Dance is to improve the quality and the quantity of ballroom dancing in the United States. USA Dance serves as the National Governing Body for DanceSport, the competitive version of ballroom dancing, in the United States subject to the statutes of the International DanceSport Federation (IDSF), the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) AND the Amateur Sports Act of the United States Congress.

Participation at any one of the World Pro-Am DanceSport Series events earns points for student competitors and grants them regional and national ranking. Top students compete for the title of World Pro/Am Champion at the Ohio Star Ball. Top teachers can win up to $20,000.
